一個說「I was impressed because we made real things from the first week」的考生,聽起來遠比說「the course was very useful」的人更有說服力。

  • did: logo, menu, poster; final poster for aunt’s bakery
  • why impressed: practical from week one, proved I can create

Band 6

I would like to talk about a course that really impressed me. It was a graphic design course that I take時態錯誤:應為「took」 two years ago at a small training centre in Nairobi. It lasted six weeks, and I went there three evenings a week after my work in a shop. Before that I didn’t knew詞形錯誤:應為「didn’t know」 anything about design, so I was, er猶豫時使用的填充詞, a bit nervous on the first day. The teacher, Mr Otieno, showed us how to use the software and how to choose colours and letters, and he give時態錯誤:應為「gave」 us a small project almost every week, for example a logo, a menu and a poster. Every lesson started with a short demonstration, and then we had one hour to try the same thing on our own work while he walked around and helped us. My last project was a poster for my aunt’s bakery. I worked on it for many evenings, and when it was finished my aunt put it in the window of her shop. Some customers asked her who make時態錯誤:應為「made」 it, and she was very proud of me. The course impressed me because it was very practical基本說法,限制了Lexical Resource的分數 and we did not only listen, we did real work from the first week. Also, I thought that I am not時態錯誤:應為「I was not」 a creative person, but now I know that I can make good things說法含糊,限制了Lexical Resource的分數 if I practise. Now, you know當作停頓使用的填充詞, I design flyers for my friends at weekends, and I am thinking about studying design more seriously because the course changed how I see my future.

Band 7

I’d like to talk about a graphic design course that really impressed me. I took it two years ago at a small training centre in Nairobi. It ran for six weeks, and I went three evenings a week after finishing my shift at a shop. I’d never done any design before, so I was rather apprehensive精準的形容詞,比「nervous」稍微正式一些 on the first day. Our teacher, Mr Otieno, showed us how to use the software and how to combine colours and lettering, and he set us a small project almost every week: a logo, a menu and a poster. Every session began with a short demonstration, and then we had about an hour to try the same technique on our own work while he walked around the room and answered questions. My final project was a poster for my aunt’s bakery. I spent many evenings on it, and when it was ready she hung it in the shop window. A few customers asked her who had designed it, and she was really proud with me介系詞錯誤:應為「proud of me」. The course impressed me because it was so hands-on: we didn’t just sit and listen, we got stuck in慣用的片語動詞,用法自然 from the first week. I’d always assumed I wasn’t a creative person, but it showed me that I could produce something useful if I kept practising已說出的想法後接準確的條件句. Nowadays I design flyers for friends at weekends, and I’m seriously considering studying design further, because that course have changed主詞動詞不一致:應為「has changed」 how I see my future.

Band 8

I’d like to talk about a graphic design course I took two years ago at a small training centre in Nairobi, which impressed me far more than I’d expected. It ran for six weeks, and I attended three evenings a week after finishing my shift at a shop. I’d never done any design before, so I was rather apprehensive on the first day. Our teacher, Mr Otieno, showed us how to use the software and how to combine colours and lettering, and he set us a small project nearly every week: a logo, a menu and a poster. Every session began with a short demonstration, and then we had about an hour to try the same technique on our own work while he walked around the room and answered questions. My final project was a poster for my aunt’s bakery. I spent many evenings on it, and when it was ready she hung it in the shop window, and a few customers asked who had designed it, which made her immensely proud. What impressed me most was how hands-on the course was: rather than sitting through lectures, we were thrown in at the deep end對比分詞片語後接慣用語,用法準確 from the first week. I’d always assumed I simply wasn’t a creative person, but the course showed me that, with enough practice自然、簡潔的條件說法, I could turn a blank screen into something people actually wanted. Nowadays I design flyers for friends at weekends, and I’m seriously weighing up a career in design, because that course has completely changed the way I picture my future精準、自然的說法,描述個人的改變.

  • Band 6的時態錯誤(「course that I take」、「he give us」、「who make it」)在Band 7已經正確(「I took it」、「he set us」、「who had designed it」),Band 8也維持乾淨。
  • Band 6依賴「very practical」和「make good things」;Band 7用「so hands-on」和「got stuck in」;Band 8再加上「thrown in at the deep end」和「completely changed the way I picture my future」。
  • Band 6以「the course changed how I see my future」收尾;Band 7用條件句(「if I kept practising」)說出理由;Band 8則把它變成具體的成果(「a blank screen into something people actually wanted」)。

  1. Why do some people prefer to learn a skill in a class rather than on their own?
  2. Should adults keep taking courses after they start working?
  3. How has online learning changed the way people choose and take courses?
  4. What makes a course or a teacher memorable for the students?
  5. Whose job is it to keep workers' skills up to date, the employer's or the individual's?
