Band 6

I would like to describe a time when my neighbour talked about something I was not interested in. His name is Mr Farooq, he is an old man who live主語と動詞の不一致:正しくは「lives」 alone in the house next to ours in Lahore. Last winter my mother ask時制の誤り:正しくは「asked」 me to return a dish to him, and when I arrived he invited me inside for tea. It was a cold evening and his room was small but warm. Then he started to talk about repairing old radios. He showed me many small parts on his table and explained how every one works, you know間を埋めるつなぎ言葉として使っている, for almost an hour. He told me that his father teach時制の誤り:正しくは「taught」 him the job when he was twelve, and that he still keeps the first radio he ever repaired on a shelf. Honestly, technical things are not interesting for me, and I was, er自然な間、気にならないつなぎ言葉, very bored and I wanted to go home. But I keep時制の誤り:正しくは「kept」 listening because he lives alone and I think nobody visits him often. Also I remembered that my grandfather died last year, and I wished I could listen to his stories again. He looked so happy基本的な形容詞で、「animated」や「delighted」のほうが評価が高くなる when he was talking that I did not want to make him sad基本的な言い回しで、「disappoint him」のほうが評価が高くなる. I nodded and asked some questions, and in the end I understand時制の誤り:正しくは「understood」 a little about the radios too. I felt tired but also happy, and when I left he said that I was a very good boy基本的でやや幼い言い回しで、Lexical Resourceの評価が伸びない.

Band 7

I’d like to describe a time when my neighbour talked about something I wasn’t interested in. His name is Mr Farooq, and he’s an elderly man who lives alone in the house next to ours in Lahore. Last winter my mother asked me to return a dish to him, and when I arrived he invited me inside for tea. It was a cold evening, and his small room was warm. Then he started to talk about repairing old radios. He showed me lots of small parts on his table and explained how each one works, for almost an hour. He told me that his father had taught him the job when he was twelve, and that he still keeps the first radio he ever repaired on a shelf. Honestly, technical things have never interested me, and I was bored to tears慣用表現を正確に使っている and wanted to go home. But I kept listening because he lives alone and I don’t think anybody visits him often. I also remembered that my own grandfather died last year, and I’d have given a lot to hear his stories again. He looked so animated的確な形容詞選び when he was talking that I didn’t wanted動詞の形の誤り:正しくは「didn’t want」 to disappoint him. I nodded and asked a few questions, and in the end I understood a little about the radios too話の締めくくりに過去形を正確に使っている. I felt tired but also strangely touched深みを加える、自然で複雑な気持ち, and when I left he said I was a good listener.

Band 8

I’d like to describe a time when my neighbour talked about something I wasn’t interested in. His name is Mr Farooq, an elderly man who lives alone in the house next to ours in Lahore. Last winter my mother asked me to return a dish to him, and when I arrived he invited me in for tea. It was a cold evening, and his small room smelled of tea and old wood. Then he started on the subject of repairing old radios. He laid out lots of small parts on his table and explained how each one works, for almost an hour. He mentioned that his father had taught him the trade at twelve, and that the first radio he ever repaired still sits on a shelf above his table. Honestly, technical things have never interested me, and I was bored to tears慣用表現を正確に使っている and longing to go home. But I kept listening because he lives alone and I doubt many people visit him. I also thought of my own grandfather, who died last year, and how much I’d give to hear one of his stories again. He looked so animated的確な形容詞選び while he talked that I couldn’t bring myself to disappoint him. I nodded along, asked a few questions, and by the end I had actually understood a little about the radios予想外の結果を示す過去完了の自然な使い方. I felt tired but also strangely touched深みを加える、自然で複雑な気持ち, and as I left he told me I was a good listener, which meant more to me than I had expected褒め言葉と気持ちを結びつける、振り返りの締めくくりの節.

  • バンド6の時制のミス(「who live」、「my mother ask」、「I keep listening」)は、バンド7では直っており(「who lives」、「my mother asked」、「I kept listening」)、バンド8でもミスはありません。
  • バンド6は「very bored」と「very good boy」に頼っています。バンド7は「bored to tears」に上げ、バンド8は「couldn’t bring myself to disappoint him」を加えて、礼儀だけでなく人柄に根ざした、聞き続けた理由を示しています。
  • バンド6は褒め言葉(「a very good boy」)で終わります。バンド7は「I was a good listener」と述べ、バンド8は「which meant more to me than I had expected」という振り返りで締めくくります。

  • 「I was polite」

  1. Why do some people find it hard to listen without interrupting?
  2. Is it ever polite to tell someone that you are not interested in what they are saying?
  3. Do you think older people need someone to listen to them more than younger people do?
  4. What makes a person a good listener, in your opinion?
  5. Has technology made people worse at listening to each other?
