Band 6

I would like to talk about a book called Animal Farm, which was written by George Orwell. I have read時制の誤り:すでに終わった時点のことなので、正しくは「read」 it two years ago in Tbilisi, because my English teacher said us動詞の型の誤り:正しくは「told us」または「asked us」 to read it for our literature class. The story is about a farm where the animals decides主語と動詞の不一致:正しくは「decide」 to send away the farmer and run the farm by themselves. There are pigs, horses, sheep and dogs in it. The sheep say the same short sentences all the time, and the dogs help the pigs to keep control. I liked this because the animals have different characters, like real people. At the beginning everything is very good基本的な言い回しで、Lexical Resourceの評価が伸びない, but slowly the pigs become the new leaders and they start to act like the farmer. The horse Boxer works very hard for everybody, and the pigs do not treat him fair形容詞と副詞の誤り:正しくは「fairly」 at the end. I almost cried when I read this part. In my opinion it is a very good book because it looks like a simple story for children, but it is really about people who have power and how they can change. It is also short, so it was more easy比較級の誤り:正しくは「easier」 than I expected. I think it is a story that everybody should read, young people and also adults, because the message is still very important基本的な言い回しで、Lexical Resourceの評価が伸びない today. After I finished it, my friends and I had a long discussion in the class, and the teacher was very pleased.

Band 7

I’d like to talk about a book called Animal Farm, which was written by George Orwell. I read it two years ago in Tbilisi, because my English teacher asked us to read it for our literature class. The story is set on a farm where the animals decide to chase out the farmer and run things themselves. There are pigs, horses, sheep and dogs in it. The sheep repeat the same slogans all the time, and the dogs help the pigs to keep control. I liked how each kind of animal has its own personality, just like people we know. At first everything goes well, but gradually the pigs become the new rulers and start behaving like the farmer. Boxer, the horse, works tirelessly for everyone, and the way the pigs treat him at the end名詞句を主語に使った、安定した構造 is really upsetting; I almost cried when I read that part. In my opinion, it’s an excellent book because it looks like a simple children’s story, but it’s actually an allegory about power的確な題材の語彙 and how it can change people. It’s also quite short, so it was more easy比較級の誤り:正しくは「easier」 to finish than I expected. What I liked most意見を導くわかりやすい目印の表現 was that the language is plain, yet the message is serious, and I think everybody should read it, young people and adults alike, because it’s still highly relevant today自然なコロケーション. After I finished it, my classmates and I had a long discussion in class, and our teacher was clearly pleased that we had noticed so much.

Band 8

I’d like to talk about a book called Animal Farm, by George Orwell. I read it two years ago in Tbilisi, because my English teacher asked us to read it for our literature class. The story is set on a farm where the animals decide to drive out the farmer and run things for themselves. There are pigs, horses, sheep and dogs, and at first everything goes well, but gradually the pigs become the new rulers and start behaving just like the farmer they replaced. The sheep chant the same slogans over and over, while the dogs enforce the pigs’ wishes, and I enjoyed how each kind of animal stands for a different type of person. Boxer, the horse, works tirelessly for everyone, and the way he is treated by the pigs in the end名詞句の中で受動態を、正確に使っている genuinely upset me; I almost cried. In my opinion, it’s an excellent book, because what looks like a simple children’s story is really an allegory about how power can corrupt的確で慣用的な題材の語彙. It’s also short and written in plain language, so it was far easier to finish than I expected, yet the message is serious. If I had to pick one thing that stayed with me個人的な振り返りを導く自然なディスコースマーカー, it would be how quickly the other animals stopped questioning what they were told. I’d urge everybody to read it, young people and adults alike, because it remains strikingly relevant的確で自然な言い回し today. When we finished it, my classmates and I had a lively discussion in class, and our teacher was delighted that we had noticed so much beneath the surface.

  • バンド6のミス(「I have read it two years ago」、「said us」、「the animals decides」)は、バンド7では正確になり(「I read it two years ago」、「asked us」、「the animals decide」)、バンド8でもミスはありません。
  • バンド6は「very good」と「very important」に頼っています。バンド7は「an allegory about power」と「highly relevant today」を使い、バンド8はそれを「an allegory about how power can corrupt」と「strikingly relevant」に磨き上げています。
  • バンド6は意見を単純な文で述べています(「it is a very good book」)。バンド7は「What I liked most」を加え、バンド8は個人的な振り返りで結んでいます(「If I had to pick one thing that stayed with me」)。

  1. Why do so many stories for children use animals instead of people?
  2. Do you think reading fiction is a good way to learn about the real world?
  3. Should schools decide which books students have to read?
  4. How have audiobooks and e-books changed the way people read?
  5. Is a story with a message better than a story written only for enjoyment?
