Band 6
I would like to talk about my friend Ioana, who is very good at基本的な言い回しで、Lexical Resourceの評価が伸びない learning languages. We met at university in Cluj, in Romania, four years ago, and now we is主語と動詞の不一致:正しくは「are」 in the same group. She can speak five languages: Romanian, French, English, German and a little Spanish, but her Spanish is still, er自然な間、気にならないつなぎ言葉, quite basic. She started French with her grandmother when she was a child, and she began English and German at school. Now she learns new things in some different ways. First, she watches films without subtitles, and when she hears a new word she write主語と動詞の不一致:正しくは「writes」 it in a small notebook. She reads this notebook on the bus every morning. Second, she speaks to tourists in the old town, because she is not afraid of make mistakes動詞の形の誤り:正しくは「is not afraid of making mistakes」. Third, once a week she has a video call with a language partner in Madrid, and they talk about many thingsあいまいな言い方で、「all sorts of topics」のほうが的確. Last year she go時制の誤り:正しくは「went」 to Spain for a short course, and her Spanish became much better. She also reads a short article in Spanish every evening before she goes to sleep. Our classmates often ask her for help before exams, and she always explains patiently. I feel she is a really great基本的な形容詞で、Lexical Resourceの評価が伸びない person and I admire her a lot. Sometimes I feel a little jealous, because I study時制の誤り:正しくは「have been studying」 English for ten years and I still don’t speak so easily. But she also gives me advice, so I want to practise more.
Band 7
I’d like to talk about my friend Ioana, who has a real talent for learning languages. We met at university in Cluj, in Romania, four years ago, and we’re now in the same group. She can speak five languages: Romanian, French, English, German and a little Spanish, although her Spanish is still quite basic. She started French with her grandmother as a child, and she began English and German at school. She has several methods for learning new things. First, she watches films without subtitles, and whenever she hears a new word she writes it down in a small notebook, which she reads on the bus every morning. Second, she speaks to tourists in the old town, because she isn’t afraid of to make動詞の形の誤り:正しくは「making」 mistakes. Third, once a week she has a video call with a language partner in Madrid, and they talk about all sorts of topics自然で融通のきく言い回し. Last year she took a short course in Spain, and her Spanish improved noticeably「became much better」の代わりに使った的確な副詞. She also reads a short article in Spanish every evening before she goes to sleep. Our classmates often ask her for help before exams, and she always explains patiently. I admire her enormously, but I’m also a little envious, because I’ve been studying English for ten years and I still can’t speak as fluently as she does「as … as」の比較構文を、正確に使っている. She’s generous with advice, so she motivate主語と動詞の不一致:正しくは「motivates」 me to practise more.
Band 8
I’d like to talk about my friend Ioana, who has a real flair for languages. We met at university in Cluj, in Romania, four years ago, and we’re now in the same group. She speaks five languages: Romanian, French, English, German and a little Spanish, although her Spanish is still at an early stage. She started French with her grandmother as a child, and she began English and German at school. She goes about learning new things in several ways. For a start, she watches films without subtitles, and whenever she hears a new word she jots it down in a small notebook, which she reads on the bus every morning. She also strikes up conversations with tourists慣用的な動詞表現 in the old town, since she isn’t afraid of making mistakes. Once a week she has a video call with a language partner in Madrid, and they talk about everything under the sun慣用表現を自然に使っている. Last year she took a short course in Spain, and her Spanish improved noticeably. She also reads a short article in Spanish every evening before she goes to sleep. Our classmates often ask her for help before exams, and she always explains patiently. I admire her enormously, though, if I’m honest, I’m also slightly envious, because I’ve been studying English for ten years and still can’t speak as fluently as she does. She’s generous with advice, too, and the more I watch her, the more I want to practise「the more … the more」の構文を、正確に使っている, so, on balance, she’s a source of motivation rather than discouragement.
- バンド6のミス(「we is」、「she write」、「she go」、「I study English for ten years」)は、バンド7では正確になり(「we’re」、「she writes」、「she took」、「I’ve been studying」)、バンド8でもミスはありません。
- バンド6は「very good at」と「many things」に頼っています。バンド7は「a real talent」と「all sorts of topics」を使い、バンド8は「a real flair」と「everything under the sun」を使っています。
- バンド7には「she motivate me」というミスが1つ残っていますが、バンド8は「the more I watch her, the more I want to practise」で結び、「a source of motivation rather than discouragement」というバランスの取れたコメントを添えています。
- Why do some people seem to pick up languages more easily than others?
- At what age do you think children should begin learning a foreign language?
- Is it still worth learning other languages when translation tools are so widely available?
- What are the advantages of being able to speak several languages at work?
- Do you think a country benefits when many of its people are multilingual?
正確な数がわからない場合は、「at least four」や「five, if you count her basic Spanish」と言って先に進みましょう。
「as far as I can tell」や「from what I have noticed」といった表現を使えば、秘密の方法を作り上げることなく、その人の習慣を正直に描写できます。
