「where」と「how you first came to know it」は短くまとめ、時間の半分ほどを「what it looks like」に使いましょう。

Band 7

I’d like to describe the public library in my neighbourhood in Curitiba, which I really enjoy visiting. It’s about ten minutes from my house, near a small park. I first got to know it when I was ten, because my grandmother took me there to find books for a school project. I was quite shy back then, but the librarian was incredibly patient的確な形容詞選び and showed me the children’s corner. These days the building looks old but well maintained自然なコロケーション. It has a glass front and a high ceiling, and inside there are long wooden tables where people read and study. Tall windows fill the room with natural light, even in the afternoon. At weekends it also runs small events, such as a book club for teenagers and drawing classes for children. I usually go on Saturday mornings and stay for about three hours, and I always leave feeling that I’ve achieved something. The librarians know me by name now, which makes the place feel even more welcoming. I enjoy going there because it’s so quiet that I can concentrate more good形の誤り:正しくは「concentrate much better」 than at home. Band 8

I’d like to describe the public library in my neighbourhood in Curitiba, which I’ve enjoyed visiting for years. It’s about ten minutes from my house, tucked away beside a small park. I first got to know it at the age of ten, when my grandmother took me there to find books for a school project. I was rather shy back then, but the librarian was incredibly patient and showed me the children’s corner. These days the building looks old but well maintained. It has a glass front and a high ceiling, and inside there are long wooden tables where people read and study. Tall windows fill the room with natural light, even late in the afternoon. At weekends it also runs small events, such as a book club for teenagers and drawing classes for children. I usually go on Saturday mornings and stay for about three hours, and I always leave feeling that I’ve genuinely achieved something. The librarians know me by name now, which makes the place feel all the more welcoming. What I value most is how quiet it is, which lets me concentrate far better than I can at home関係詞節を伴う分裂文を、正確かつ自然に使っている. I also bump into慣用的な句動詞 old school friends there, and we usually end up studying together. When I was under a lot of pressure before my exams last year, I went every day, and it was the only place where I felt properly at ease的確で自然なコロケーション. For me it isn’t merely a building, it’s somewhere I feel at home.

  • バンド6のミス(「I first know it」と「my grandmother bring me there」)は、バンド7では正確になり(「I first got to know it」と「my grandmother took me there」)、バンド8でもミスはありません。
  • バンド6は建物を「very old and very nice」と描写しています。バンド7は「well maintained」に改善し、バンド8はそのフレーズを残したうえで「tucked away beside a small park」と「properly at ease」を加えています。
  • バンド6は「it is quiet and I can concentrate me better」と言っています。 バンド8は「which lets me concentrate far better than I can at home」と、1つのなめらかな節にまとめています。

  • 「how you first came to know it」を飛ばしたり、数語で済ませたりすること。

  1. Why do some towns invest in public libraries, parks and sports halls while others do not?
  2. Should public buildings be free for everyone to enter, or should visitors contribute?
  3. How have online services changed the way people use public buildings?
  4. Do you think public buildings should look modern or fit in with the older parts of a city?
  5. What makes a public building welcoming to people of different ages?
