IELTS Mentor AI for Writing

An IELTS Writing feedback app that marks Task 1 and Task 2 on the four criteria

Write a Task 1 report or a Task 2 essay in a timed editor with a live word count. Each answer comes back with a band for Task Achievement or Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, reported as a range from a strict to a lenient reading, with an Examiner's Summary. A Task 1 report also gets a Data Accuracy check against the chart.

A paid app for iOS and Android. The interface is in English; this page is one of nine languages. It reports a band range, not an official score, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.

The claims on this page follow the app's own description, last checked on 1 October 2026.

What you get

What the app does for Writing, in the app's own terms

Each feature is named as the app names it. Nothing here is a promise about your result.

Tests

Task 1 and Task 2 in a timed editor with a live word count. Task 1 covers Academic charts, graphs, tables and maps, and General Training letters; Task 2 is the essay. IELTS.org gives 60 minutes for both tasks, with Task 2 counting twice as much as Task 1.

A band for each criterion, as a range

Every answer comes back with a band for each of the four Writing criteria, reported as a range from a strict examiner's reading to a lenient one, and an Examiner's Summary that says what decided each band.

Data Accuracy

For Task 1, a check that compares what you wrote with what the chart shows, so a misread chart is separated from a language mistake.

Blocking Issues

The errors that recur across your writing, with the band they cost, named and explained: an article pattern, a tense pattern, a word-form pattern. The Skill to Fix First puts the error that appears in 80% or more of your responses at the top.

Skill Map

Every test feeds one map of your English: articles, tenses, cohesion, collocations, prepositions, word form and more, each as a percentage, shared with the Speaking, Reading and Listening tests in the same app.

Review Due and Quick Wins

Review Due brings back what you fixed, right before you would forget it, scheduled by the FSRS algorithm; Quick Wins pick the next short session from what the map shows.

What it is not

Four things to know before you pay

  • The band range is the AI examiner's reading, not an official IELTS score. Your real score comes only from an IELTS test.
  • There is no human examiner, tutor or teacher in the app. Nobody reads your essay except the AI examiner.
  • The interface is in English, and so is your writing, because the test is.
  • It does not book your test, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.

Three products describe Writing feedback on their own sites: SmallTalk2Me, Speechful and Stimuler. Here is what each says about itself on its own site or store listing, read on 18 September 2026, next to what this app does. Where a listing does not describe a feature, the cell says so; that does not mean the feature is absent.

Is IELTS Mentor AI for you?

You came here with a band to reach. Here is who the app is for, who it is not for, what happens if it does not work for you, and what it does not promise.

It is for you if

  • You are preparing for Academic IELTS and practise on your own.
  • You want your Speaking and Writing assessed against the four official criteria, with a band range rather than a single guess.
  • You want full Reading and Listening papers under exam timing, with the evidence behind every answer.
  • You can use an app whose interface is in English; this site explains it in nine languages.

It is not for you if

  • You need the General Training Reading paper. It is not in the app.
  • You want an official score. The app reports a range, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.
  • You want to practise without a phone. The app runs on iOS and Android; the tools on this site are the browser part.

If it does not work for you

IELTS Mentor AI is a paid app. The plans, the packs and what each one buys are on this site, and the App Store or Google Play show the terms before you confirm; how billing and refunds work is written down in plain words, and support answers by email.

What it does not promise

A range, not a result. Speaking and Writing come back as a band range from strict to lenient, with the sentences that moved it, because no software can promise the band an examiner will give; only the test does. Whether AI scorers work sets out the evidence.

The app

Write a task and see what the examiner reads

IELTS Mentor AI is a paid iOS and Android app for Academic IELTS practice in all four skills: an AI examiner marks Speaking and Writing on the four official criteria and reports a band range, full Reading and Listening tests are marked the moment you finish, and one Skill Map shows what to fix next.

Questions people ask before downloading

Short answers, with the page to read for more.

Does the app give an official IELTS Writing score?

No. It reports a band range from a strict to a lenient reading of your answer on the four Writing criteria, with an Examiner's Summary. An official score comes only from an IELTS test. The range shows how close to a boundary you are and which criterion decides it.

Does it mark General Training Writing?

Task 1 yes: the General Training letter is covered alongside the Academic charts, graphs, tables and maps. Task 2 is the same essay task in both versions, as IELTS.org's test format pages describe it. The app's Reading papers are Academic only.

What is the Data Accuracy check?

For a Task 1 report, the app compares what you wrote with what the chart shows. It separates a misread chart from a language mistake, which the four criteria alone cannot do. IELTS Writing Task 1: charts, graphs and tables explains what the task asks for.

Is the app in my language?

The interface is in English, and so is the writing, because the test is in English. This website explains the app in nine languages.

What does it cost?

It is a paid app. What it costs is on one page, in full and with the date it was last checked; nothing is unlocked before you pay. The pricing page; how billing and refunds work.

Can I prepare for IELTS Writing without a teacher?

Yes, if every piece you write gets marked against the criteria and you change one thing before the next. The app runs that loop with an examiner-style marking; the guide below runs it with the browser tools alone. IELTS Writing practice at home without a teacher.
