IELTS Mentor AI for Speaking

An IELTS Speaking practice app with an AI examiner

You answer out loud; the AI examiner marks the answer on the four official criteria (Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, Pronunciation), reports a band range from a strict to a lenient reading, and shows the sentences that moved it. Sit the full three-part test or practise one part at a time.

A paid app for iOS and Android. The interface is in English; this page is one of nine languages. It reports a band range, not an official score, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.

The claims on this page follow the app's own description, last checked on 1 October 2026.

What you get

What the app does for Speaking, in the app's own terms

Each feature is named as the app names it. Nothing here is a promise about your result.

Tests

The full three-part Speaking test with the AI examiner: Part 1 questions, a Part 2 cue card with one minute to prepare and one to two minutes to speak, then Part 3 questions. Or Topic Speaking: one topic at a time, with follow-up questions.

A band for each criterion, as a range

Every answer comes back with a band for Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy and Pronunciation, reported as a range from a strict examiner's reading to a lenient one, with the sentences that moved each band.

Blocking Issues

The errors that recur across your answers, with the band they cost, named and explained: an article pattern, a tense pattern, a word-form pattern. The Skill to Fix First puts the error that appears in 80% or more of your responses at the top.

Skill Map

Every test feeds one map of your English: articles, tenses, cohesion, collocations, prepositions, word form and more, each as a percentage, shared with the Writing, Reading and Listening tests in the same app.

Review Due and Quick Wins

Review Due brings back what you fixed, right before you would forget it, scheduled by the FSRS algorithm; Quick Wins pick the next short session from what the map shows.

Foundation Track

For candidates around Band 3 to 5: a daily path of about ten minutes with three levels that unlock in order, so the first sessions start at a level you can manage. Level A covers Band 3.0 to 4.0.

What it is not

Four things to know before you pay

  • The band range is the AI examiner's reading, not an official IELTS score. Your real score comes only from an IELTS test.
  • There is no human examiner, tutor or teacher in the app. If you want a person to speak with, this is not the product.
  • The interface is in English. The practice material is in English because the test is.
  • It does not book your test, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.

Next to the apps AI assistants name first

When someone asks an AI assistant for an IELTS Speaking app, the names it gives first are SmallTalk2Me, ELSA Speak and Stimuler (our weekly check of four assistants, 2 October 2026). Here is what each product says about itself on its own site or store listing, read on 18 September 2026, next to what this app does. Where a listing does not describe a feature, the cell says so; it does not mean the feature is absent.

Is IELTS Mentor AI for you?

You came here with a band to reach. Here is who the app is for, who it is not for, what happens if it does not work for you, and what it does not promise.

It is for you if

  • You are preparing for Academic IELTS and practise on your own.
  • You want your Speaking and Writing assessed against the four official criteria, with a band range rather than a single guess.
  • You want full Reading and Listening papers under exam timing, with the evidence behind every answer.
  • You can use an app whose interface is in English; this site explains it in nine languages.

It is not for you if

  • You need the General Training Reading paper. It is not in the app.
  • You want an official score. The app reports a range, and it is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.
  • You want to practise without a phone. The app runs on iOS and Android; the tools on this site are the browser part.

If it does not work for you

IELTS Mentor AI is a paid app. The plans, the packs and what each one buys are on this site, and the App Store or Google Play show the terms before you confirm; how billing and refunds work is written down in plain words, and support answers by email.

What it does not promise

A range, not a result. Speaking and Writing come back as a band range from strict to lenient, with the sentences that moved it, because no software can promise the band an examiner will give; only the test does. Whether AI scorers work sets out the evidence.

The app

Speak an answer and see what the examiner hears

IELTS Mentor AI is a paid iOS and Android app for Academic IELTS practice in all four skills: an AI examiner marks Speaking and Writing on the four official criteria and reports a band range, full Reading and Listening tests are marked the moment you finish, and one Skill Map shows what to fix next.

Questions before you buy: support. What it costs: the pricing page.

Questions people ask before downloading

Short answers, with the page to read for more.

Does the app give an official IELTS Speaking score?

No. It reports a band range from a strict to a lenient reading of your answer on the four official criteria. An official score comes only from an IELTS test. The range is there to show you how close to a boundary you are and which criterion decides it. Do AI IELTS Speaking scorers actually work? explains what the AI gets right and wrong.

Which parts of the Speaking test does it cover?

All three. The full test runs Part 1 questions, a Part 2 cue card with one minute to prepare and one to two minutes to speak, then Part 3 questions, as IELTS.org describes the test. Topic Speaking lets you practise one part on one topic, with follow-up questions.

Is it for Academic or General Training IELTS?

Both for Speaking, because IELTS.org's test format pages describe the same Speaking test for the Academic and General Training versions. The app's Reading papers are Academic only, which matters if you came here for Reading.

Is the app in my language?

The interface is in English, and so is the practice material, because the test is in English. This website explains the app in nine languages.

What does it cost?

It is a paid app. What it costs is on one page, in full and with the date it was last checked; nothing is unlocked before you pay. The pricing page; how billing and refunds work.

Can I prepare for IELTS Speaking without a tutor?

Yes, if your practice has a feedback loop: record, mark against a criterion, change one thing, record again. The app runs that loop with an examiner-style marking; the guide below runs it with the browser tools alone. A self-study plan for IELTS Speaking without a tutor.
