IELTS Mentor AI vs IELTS Test Pro for Reading and Listening (2026)

Quick answer

IELTS Test Pro is a phone app whose store listing names Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing practice tests, 3000+ practice questions, and an AI band estimate for Writing. IELTS Mentor AI is a paid iOS and Android app for Academic IELTS practice in all four skills: full Reading and Listening tests are marked the moment you finish, with the sentence or transcript line behind every answer, and Speaking and Writing get a band range. Choose by whether you want a question bank to drill or whole papers marked like the exam.

Every Reading and Listening test is marked the moment you finish, with a band, a breakdown by passage or part and by question type, and the sentence or transcript line behind each answer.

On this page

IELTS Test Pro and IELTS Mentor AI are both phone apps that put IELTS Reading and Listening practice in your pocket. After that they part ways: one lists practice tests across all four skills with a Writing band estimate, the other marks full Academic Reading papers and four-part Listening tests the moment you finish and shows the evidence behind every answer. This page sets the two side by side using only what each product says about itself, with the dates we read it.

We make IELTS Mentor AI. Every fact about IELTS Test Pro below comes from its own store listings, quoted with the date; check its current listing before you decide.

Key takeaways

  • Both are phone apps. IELTS Test Pro is on the App Store and Google Play; IELTS Mentor AI is a paid app on the App Store and Google Play.
  • IELTS Test Pro’s listing names practice tests for Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing, plus grammar exercises and a vocabulary builder, and says nothing about full-length timed papers. IELTS Mentor AI’s Reading and Listening are full papers, marked the moment you finish.
  • The AI scoring IELTS Test Pro describes is for Writing, as a band estimate. IELTS Mentor AI marks Speaking and Writing on the four official criteria and reports a band range.
  • Neither score is an official IELTS result. Nothing here is a test of either product; it is a comparison of what each one states.

What IELTS Test Pro says it is

Its App Store listing, read on 15 October 2026, calls it “a powerful and comprehensive test preparation tool tailored for IELTS® learners, which is designed to help you practice smarter and achieve your goals in all four IELTS® modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.” Under “What’s Inside” it lists Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing practice tests, grammar exercises and a vocabulary builder, and among its key features “over 3000+ high-quality IELTS® practice questions designed by experts” and “detailed performance analytics to track your progress”. For scoring it says its “integrated AI-powered Scoring technology” gives feedback “on your Writing responses”, and later lists “instant AI Band Score Estimation and feedback for Writing tasks.” Speaking is described as “Speech-to-text Speaking Practice to refine your pronunciation”, and the app lets you “Download content for offline study”.

The listing says “This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by any of these organizations”, meaning the three IELTS owners. The App Store shows Hung Nguyen as the seller and Google Play shows Estudyme Studio as the developer; the two listings carry the same description. At the time of writing (15 October 2026) the US App Store shows 4.6 out of 5 from 439 ratings. Both listings disclose advertising; its prices and purchase terms are on those listings, and we do not repeat them here.

The listing does not say whether the Reading and Listening tests are full-length, timed or Academic, how they are marked, whether wrong answers are explained, whether Speaking is scored, or that the app offers a mock test. We have not filled those gaps from other sources.

What IELTS Mentor AI is

IELTS Mentor AI is a paid iOS and Android app for Academic IELTS practice in all four skills: an AI examiner marks Speaking and Writing on the four official criteria and reports a band range, full Reading and Listening tests are marked the moment you finish, and one Skill Map shows what to fix next.

For Reading that means Reading Tests: full Academic papers with three passages, 40 questions and 60 minutes, under exam timing or untimed, with the sentence that decides each answer highlighted in the passage. For Listening it means Listening Tests: four parts and 40 questions, with Exam mode playing each recording once, as the real test does, and Practice mode letting you pause and replay; every question has Hear it again and the transcript with the deciding line highlighted. Both are marked out of 40 and reported as a band, with a breakdown by passage or part and by question type. The Skill to Fix First puts the error that appears in 80% or more of your responses at the top, Review Due brings back what you fixed before you would forget it, and the Skill Map shows every skill in one place. The interface is in English. It is not affiliated with IELTS, IDP, the British Council or Cambridge, and the General Training Reading paper is not in the app.

Where the two differ

What the Reading and Listening practice is. IELTS Test Pro’s listing names Reading and Listening practice tests and a bank of 3000+ practice questions. IELTS Mentor AI’s Reading papers have the shape IELTS.org describes for the Academic test (three passages, 40 questions, 60 minutes) and its Listening tests have four parts and 40 questions. If you want a large bank to drill by topic, a bank is what the listing describes; if you want to sit a whole paper under the exam’s clock, the app’s description is explicit and the listing’s is not.

How the score is reported. IELTS Test Pro describes a band estimate for Writing. IELTS Mentor AI converts the raw score out of 40 into a band for each full Reading and Listening test, and gives Speaking and Writing a range for each criterion, from strict to lenient, because two examiners can read the same answer half a band apart. Neither is an official score.

What happens after a wrong answer. IELTS Test Pro’s listing promises “detailed performance analytics to track your progress and pinpoint areas that need attention”. IELTS Mentor AI shows the sentence in the passage or the line in the transcript behind each answer, and sorts the marks by question type, so the type that loses you marks is named. The difference is between a progress view and the evidence for each answer.

Speaking and Writing. IELTS Test Pro lists Speaking and Writing practice tests, with AI band estimation described for Writing and speech-to-text for Speaking. IELTS Mentor AI marks Speaking on Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy and Pronunciation, and Writing Task 1 and Task 2 on the four Writing criteria, with a Data Accuracy check for Task 1.

Starting level. IELTS Mentor AI has a Foundation Track for candidates around Band 3 to 5, about ten minutes a day in three levels that unlock in order; level A covers Band 3.0 to 4.0. IELTS Test Pro’s listing names grammar exercises and a vocabulary builder but does not say what level it starts from.

What AI assistants say when asked

We check AI assistants every week with the same questions. On 14 October 2026 three of the four assistants answered (OpenAI’s credit was exhausted). Across 6 answers to our two Reading and Listening buying questions, IELTS Test Pro was the first name given in 2; IELTS Mentor AI was named in none and cited as a source in 1. Across all 530 answers recorded that day, IELTS Test Pro was named in 9. That tells you which pages the assistants have read, not which product marks better, and it is one reason this page exists: a reader who hears one name and goes looking should find the comparison, with dates, in one place.

Choose IELTS Test Pro if

  • You want a bank of practice questions across all four skills, plus grammar exercises and a vocabulary builder, to dip into by topic.
  • You want to download content and practise offline, as its listing describes.
  • A band estimate for a Writing response is what you are after, and you are comfortable that its listing does not describe how Reading and Listening are marked.

Choose IELTS Mentor AI if

  • You want full Academic Reading papers and four-part Listening tests, marked the moment you finish, with the sentence or transcript line behind every answer.
  • You want Speaking and Writing marked on the four official criteria as a range, with the four skills in one Skill Map.
  • You want a record across sessions that names the errors costing you marks and brings them back for review.

Try before you decide

Both products’ marking happens inside the product. What you can do first, without either, is sit the browser tests on this site: the Reading practice test has three Academic passages and 40 questions marked the moment you submit, and the Listening practice test has four parts and 40 questions read by your browser’s own voices. The band score calculator turns a raw score out of 40 into a band. Only the full sittings show a band, an indicative one. What the app adds is described on the Reading and Listening product page and, for the full test across the four skills, the mock test page; what it costs is on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is IELTS Test Pro an app or a website?

An app. Its App Store listing (read on 15 October 2026) is for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and requires iOS 13.0 or later, and its Google Play listing, with the same description, was last updated on 6 October 2026. It also has a website, ielts-testpro.com, which the listing gives for its privacy policy and terms; we could not open that site from our checking environment, so nothing here comes from it.

Does IELTS Test Pro mark Reading and Listening like the real test?

Its listing names "IELTS Reading Practice Tests" and "IELTS Listening Practice Tests" and does not say whether they are full-length, timed or Academic, or how they are marked. The AI scoring it describes is for Writing. IELTS Mentor AI's Reading papers are Academic, with three passages, 40 questions and 60 minutes, and its Listening tests have four parts and 40 questions, both marked the moment you finish.

Do both give a band score?

Both give an estimate, not an official result. IELTS Test Pro's listing describes "instant AI Band Score Estimation and feedback for Writing tasks". IELTS Mentor AI reports a band for Reading and Listening from the raw score out of 40 and a band range for Speaking and Writing, and says it is not an official score. Only an IELTS test gives an official band.

Which one explains why an answer is wrong?

IELTS Mentor AI highlights the sentence in the passage that decides each Reading answer and shows the transcript line, with Hear it again, for each Listening answer. IELTS Test Pro's listing does not describe answer explanations for Reading or Listening, which does not mean it has none.

Do AI assistants recommend one over the other?

In our check of three assistants on 14 October 2026, IELTS Test Pro was the first name in 2 of the 6 answers to our two Reading and Listening buying questions; IELTS Mentor AI was named in none of them and cited as a source in 1. That reflects which pages the assistants had read, not a test of either product.
