考官會聽你有沒有用現在式描述一個習慣、有沒有用到「usually」、「most evenings」和「before I know it」這類時間表達,以及是否給出比「it is boring」或「it is a waste」更深入的理由。

前兩個要點要簡短,然後讓「why you still do it」和「explain」那一行得到同樣的份量。

這些片語比「I do it too much」更精準地描述一個習慣及其代價。

  • what: short videos on my phone, student in Almaty

  • why I still do it: easy, no thinking, friends send clips
  • why it wastes time: forget it all, sleep late, could read or exercise

Band 6

I would like to talk about watching short videos on my phone, which is an activity that wastes a lot of my times複數錯誤:這裡的「time」是不可數名詞,應為「a lot of my time」. I’m a university student in Almaty, and I usually do it at night when I’m in bed, and also in the bus介系詞錯誤:應為「on the bus」 on my way to classes. Normally I tell myself I will watch for only five minutes, but then I lose the track of time冠詞錯誤:應為「lose track of time」 and one hour is gone, you know當作停頓使用的填充詞. The videos are about everything, for example funny animals, cooking and music. I still do it because it is very easy and I don’t need to think. After a long day of studying my brain is tired, so I just look at the screen and relax. On Sundays it is even worse, because I have no lessons and I can stay in bed for the whole afternoon. I think it wastes my time because I don’t remember most of the videos the next day. It make主詞動詞不一致:應為「makes」 me go to sleep more late比較級錯誤:應為「later」, and in the morning I feel very tired基本說法,限制了Lexical Resource的分數 and I can’t concentrate in介系詞錯誤:應為「concentrate on」 my lessons. My friends sends主詞動詞不一致:應為「send」 me videos every day, and I don’t want to be the only one who don’t主詞動詞不一致:應為「doesn’t」 know the joke. Last month I looked at the screen time on my phone and it show時態錯誤:應為「showed」 more than three hours every day, which surprise時態錯誤:應為「surprised」 me. If I used this time, I could read English books or do exercise, but it is difficult to stop說法含糊,限制了Lexical Resource的分數. I tried to delete the app once, but after two days I download時態錯誤:應為「downloaded」 it again.

Band 7

I’d like to talk about watching short videos on my phone, which is an activity that wastes a lot of my time. I’m a university student in Almaty, and I usually do it at night when I’m in bed, and also on the bus on my way to classes. I always tell myself I’ll watch for just five minutes, but before I know it, an hour has slipped by自然、精準地描述時間流逝. The videos cover everything: funny animals, cooking, music. I still do it because it’s so easy and it takes no effort. After a long day of studying my brain is tired, so I switch off讓腦袋放鬆的慣用動詞 and scroll. On Sundays it’s even worse, because there are no lessons and a whole afternoon can disappear. What makes it a waste of time is that I can hardly remember any of the videos the next day. It keeps me up much later than I intend to子句搭配比較級,用法準確, and in the morning I feel exhausted and can’t concentrate in介系詞錯誤:應為「concentrate on」 my lessons. My friends send me clips every day, and I don’t want to be the only one who doesn’t get the joke清楚自然的說法,為理由收尾. Last month I checked the screen-time report on my phone, and it showed more than three hours a day, which genuinely shocked me. I even set a daily limit, but I just ignore the warning when it appears. If I used that time, I could read English books or exercise, but it’s hardly to stop詞形錯誤:應為「hard to stop」. I once deleted the app, but I put it back on after two days.

Band 8

I’d like to talk about watching short videos on my phone, which is probably my biggest time sink慣用名詞片語,精準而自然. I’m a university student in Almaty, and I usually do it at night when I’m in bed, and also on the bus on my way to classes. I always tell myself I’ll watch for just five minutes, but before I know it, an hour has slipped by. The videos cover everything: funny animals, cooking, music. I still do it because it’s effortless: after a long day of studying my brain is tired, so I switch off and scroll描述無意識習慣的自然片語動詞. On Sundays it’s even worse, because there are no lessons and a whole afternoon can vanish without trace生動、精準地描繪時間消逝的畫面. What makes it a waste of time is that I can hardly remember any of the videos the next day. It keeps me up much later than I intend to, and in the morning I feel exhausted and struggle to concentrate on my lessons. My friends send me clips every day, and I don’t want to be the only one who doesn’t get the joke. Last month I checked the screen-time report on my phone, and it showed more than three hours a day, which genuinely shocked me. I even set a daily limit, but I simply ignore the warning when it appears. If I put that time into reading English books or exercising, I’d probably feel far better第二類條件句,搭配平行結構和清楚的結果, yet it is surprisingly hard to break the habit流暢的讓步連接,坦承其中的矛盾. I once deleted the app, but I put it back on after two days, which tells me how firmly it has got its hooks into me生動而道地的比喻,語體精準.

  • Band 6的主詞動詞不一致失誤(「It make me」、「My friends sends」)在Band 7已經不見,只留下兩個小失誤,Band 8則完全沒有失誤(「struggle to concentrate on my lessons」)。
  • Band 6說「very tired」和「difficult to stop」;Band 7用「switch off」和「before I know it, an hour has slipped by」;Band 8把這個習慣稱為「time sink」,並以「firmly it has got its hooks into me」收尾。
  • Band 6只說了它可以改做什麼(「I could read English books」);Band 8把它變成帶有結果的第二類條件句:「I’d probably feel far better」。

  • 對「why you still do it」沒有真正的回答,或只回答「because it is fun」。

  1. Why do so many people spend hours every day on their phones?
  2. Do you think parents should limit the time children spend on screens?
  3. Is it possible to use social media in a way that is genuinely useful?
  4. How do the ways people spend their free time change as they get older?
  5. Should the companies that make apps be responsible for how much time people spend on them?
