「unlike other chefs, she…」

Band 7
I’d like to describe Lucia Mamani, a cook who’s a household name in Arequipa, the city in southern Peru where I live. She runs a small traditional restaurant near my district, and every Sunday she has a short slot on the local radio, where she explains old recipes from our region. She opened the restaurant twenty years ago, after working in her aunt’s kitchen as a girl. There are several reasons why people are so fond of her. First, her food tastes exactly like the dishes our grandmothers used to make過去の習慣を表す「used to」の自然な使い方. Second, she’s completely down to earthよく使われるコロケーションを、自然な位置で使っている: she comes out of the kitchen to greet every customer. Last year my family went there for my mother’s birthday, and she remembered my grandmother’s name, which took us all by surprise慣用表現を正しい時制で使っている. There’s often a queue outside at lunchtime, and some tourists even travel from Lima just to try her soup. She also trains young people from the neighbourhood, so they can find work in kitchens. Band 8
I’d like to describe Lucia Mamani, a cook who is something of a household name in Arequipa, the city in southern Peru where I live. She runs a small traditional restaurant near my district, and every Sunday she has a short slot on the local radio, where she explains old recipes from our region. She opened it twenty years ago, having learned the trade in her aunt’s kitchen as a girl. There are several reasons why people are so fond of her. For one thing, her food tastes just like the dishes our grandmothers used to make. For another, she is so unassuming that she comes out of the kitchen to greet every customer複雑な構造を使いこなしている結果の節. Last year my family went there for my mother’s birthday, and she remembered my grandmother’s name, which took us all by surprise慣用表現を自然に使っている.
- バンド6の「she have」、「it taste」、「my family go」は、バンド7では正確になり(「she has」、「tastes」、「went」)、バンド8でもミスはありません。
- バンド6は「very tasty」と「a very good person」に頼っています。バンド7は「completely down to earth」を使い、バンド8は同じ考えを「so unassuming that she comes out of the kitchen to greet every customer」にしています。
- バンド7は「a small business can matter to a whole community」で締めくくり、バンド8は「What strikes me most, I think,」を前に置いたうえで、町のアイデンティティへと話を広げて鋭くしています。
- 「everyone knows him」や「he is very popular」だけで説明を済ませ、具体的な理由を2つ挙げないこと
- What kinds of people become well known in a small community?
- Do you think local celebrities are as important as national ones?
- Why do some people enjoy being famous while others avoid attention?
- How has social media changed the way people become known in their town?
- Should well-known local people be expected to set a good example?
