When do IELTS results come out?

Results are released by format, and the count starts from your test date. The figures below are the ones IELTS.org and IDP publish, and your test centre confirms the date for your own test.

IDP states that for paper tests, “Your test results and your Test Report Form (TRF) will be available 13 days after you complete the test”, and that computer-delivered results are typically available within 1 to 5 days. IELTS.org lists paper results within 13 days, or 7 days in India.
Paper is being phased out
IELTS.org has announced that from mid-2026 it will no longer offer IELTS as a paper-based test, with exact timelines varying by market. The paper row above applies only where paper is still offered. If you are working to a deadline, plan on the longer end of the window for your format and check with your centre.
Where the result appears

What if it is late
IELTS.org says your test is marked very carefully so that you get exactly the right result, and that it may sometimes need a little longer to check. A result that arrives after the published window is not necessarily a problem, but it is a reason to ask your test centre.
Speaking on a separate day

You sit IELTS on paper on a Saturday. Counting 13 days puts your result on the Friday nearly two weeks later. If an application closes before then, book a format with a shorter published window or leave more time.
