|---|---|---|
| bake from scratch | 用基本食材從頭做起,而不是用現成的預拌粉 | She baked it from scratch for the first time. |
| a mouth-watering smell | 讓人想吃的香味 | There was a mouth-watering smell coming from the kitchen. |
| moist and fluffy | 內部柔軟又輕盈 | The cake was moist and fluffy, with a hint of lemon. |
| a hint of | 極少量的某種味道 | It had a hint of lemon and a few poppy seeds. |
| a labour of love | 為了某人而非常用心完成的事 | I realised the cake was a real labour of love. |
| a slice | 從蛋糕上切下來的一塊 | I had a second slice without being asked. |
| gather around the table | 聚在一起坐在桌邊 | We all gathered around the table under the tree. |
| a special occasion | 重要的場合 | It was a special occasion for the whole family. |
| the thought that counts | 心意比結果更重要 | It was the thought that counted, not the texture. |
| be overcome with pride | 感到非常強烈的驕傲 | She was clearly overcome with pride. |
- what: lemon and poppy-seed cake, baked by my mother
- when and where: my graduation, July 2023, our garden under the apricot tree
- who: mother, aunt, two cousins, grandfather
- why special: she had never baked before, practised three times, effort and nerves
Band 6
I would like to talk about a lemon cake with poppy seeds that my mother bake時態錯誤:應為「baked」 for my graduation in July 2023. It is not normal for her, because she is a very good cook, but she cook主詞動詞不一致:應為「cooks」 only meat and rice and I never see時態錯誤:應為「saw」 her make a cake in my life. After, I know動詞選擇錯誤:應為「found out」 that she tried three times in the last two weeks and the first cake was very black基本說法,限制了Lexical Resource的分數 on the bottom. We ate it in our garden in the afternoon with my aunt, two cousins and my grandfather, and we was主詞動詞不一致:應為「we were」 sitting at a table under the apricot tree. She put some thin pieces of lemon on top and a few mint leaves from the pot near the kitchen door. Honestly自然的話語標記,引出個人看法, the cake was a little dry, but nobody said anything, and I remember she was very happy基本說法,限制了Lexical Resource的分數 when she brought it. It was special for me because of her effort and her nervous face, and on a day with many congratulations she wanted to say it in her own way.
Band 7
I’d like to talk about a lemon and poppy-seed cake that my mother baked for my graduation in July 2023. It isn’t something she would normally do: she’s an excellent cook, but she makes savoury food, and I’d never seen her bake a cake in my whole life. I found out afterwards that she’d practised three times in the previous fortnight and that the first attempt had come out almost black on the bottom. We ate it in our garden that afternoon, with my aunt, my two cousins and my grandfather gathered around a table under the apricot tree自然又生動的詞語搭配, and she’d decorate動詞形式錯誤:應為「decorated」 it with thin slices of lemon and a few mint leaves. To be honest, the cake was slightly dry, but nobody mentioned it, and I can still picture how proud she looked when she brought it out. It was special because it wasn’t really about the taste用對比結構引出原因 but about the effort and nerves behind it, and I think, on a day full of congratulations自然的名詞片語, she wanted to say it her own way.
Band 8
I’d like to talk about a lemon and poppy-seed cake that my mother baked for my graduation in July 2023. It isn’t something she’d normally do: she’s an excellent cook, but her talent is for savoury food, and in all my life I’d never seen her bake a cake. I found out afterwards that she’d practised three times in the previous fortnight and that the first attempt had come out almost black on the bottom. We ate it in our garden that afternoon, with my aunt, my two cousins and my grandfather gathered around a table under the apricot tree, and she’d decorated it with thin slices of lemon and a few mint leaves. Honestly, the cake was slightly dry, but nobody mentioned it, and I can still picture how proud she looked when she brought it out. What made it special wasn’t the taste at all but the effort and the nerves behind it分裂句清楚地呈現對比, and, on a day full of congratulations, she’d chosen to say it in a way that was entirely her own.
- Band 6的時態錯誤(「my mother bake」、「she cook」、「we was」)到了Band 7已改成正確的過去式和現在式,只剩一處失誤,Band 8則完全沒有。
- Band 6用「very black」和「very happy」;Band 7用「gathered around a table under the apricot tree」和「how proud she looked」描述同一個時刻;Band 8保留這些說法,並加上「her talent is for savoury food」。
- Why are cakes part of celebrations in so many cultures?
- Do people cook at home less often than they used to?
- Is homemade food better than shop-bought food for a celebration?
- Do you think traditional family recipes will be forgotten in the future?
- How does eating together affect relationships in a family?
