「how you plan to achieve it」の項目は、このキューカードの核心です。

「how long it will take」の項目は、現実的で具体的にしましょう。

I’d like to talk about my goal of eventually qualifying as a chartered accountant, which is something I decided on fairly seriously about two years ago, once I’d finished my undergraduate degree and started working in a junior finance role. My plan involves several concrete stages rather than one big leap: I’m currently studying for the first set of professional exams alongside my job, which takes up most weekday evenings and a fair chunk of most weekends, and once those are finished I’ll need to complete a set number of years of supervised work experience before I can apply for the full qualification. Realistically, I expect the whole process to take somewhere between four and five years from when I started, since the exams themselves are staged over a couple of years and the required work experience runs alongside them rather than afterwards. It’s genuinely a long-term goal, and there have already been a few stretches where progress has felt slower than I’d like, particularly when work gets busy and study time gets squeezed. The main reason this goal matters to me is that my father worked in a fairly unstable industry for most of his career, and watching that uncertainty affect our family growing up made me want a profession with clearer, more internationally recognised progression, rather than anything about status for its own sake. It’s also become something of a stepping stone in my own mind towards eventually working abroad, since the qualification is respected in several countries, which matters to me for reasons beyond the job itself.

  • 「how you plan to achieve it」について、一般的な意志を述べるだけで、具体的な手順がないこと

  1. Do you think it's important for people to set long-term goals?
  2. Are people more likely to achieve goals they share with others or keep private?
  3. Do you think young people today set different goals than previous generations?
  4. What can stop people from achieving the goals they set for themselves?
