“how you plan to achieve it” 항목이 이 카드의 핵심이므로, 실제 단계 두세 가지를 미리 계획해 두는 것이 좋습니다.
“how long it will take” 항목은 현실적이고 구체적으로 말하세요. 마지막에는 “for a better life” 같은 일반적인 이유가 아니라 개인적인 이유로 “why it matters” 설명을 마무리하세요.

I’d like to talk about my goal of eventually qualifying as a chartered accountant, which is something I decided on fairly seriously about two years ago, once I’d finished my undergraduate degree and started working in a junior finance role. My plan involves several concrete stages rather than one big leap: I’m currently studying for the first set of professional exams alongside my job, which takes up most weekday evenings and a fair chunk of most weekends, and once those are finished I’ll need to complete a set number of years of supervised work experience before I can apply for the full qualification. Realistically, I expect the whole process to take somewhere between four and five years from when I started, since the exams themselves are staged over a couple of years and the required work experience runs alongside them rather than afterwards. It’s genuinely a long-term goal, and there have already been a few stretches where progress has felt slower than I’d like, particularly when work gets busy and study time gets squeezed. The main reason this goal matters to me is that my father worked in a fairly unstable industry for most of his career, and watching that uncertainty affect our family growing up made me want a profession with clearer, more internationally recognised progression, rather than anything about status for its own sake. It’s also become something of a stepping stone in my own mind towards eventually working abroad, since the qualification is respected in several countries, which matters to me for reasons beyond the job itself.
- “how you plan to achieve it”에 구체적인 단계 없이 일반적인 의도만 말하는 것
- Do you think it's important for people to set long-term goals?
- Are people more likely to achieve goals they share with others or keep private?
- Do you think young people today set different goals than previous generations?
- What can stop people from achieving the goals they set for themselves?
아직 이루지 않은 진전을 이미 이룬 것처럼 말하지 말고, “I'm planning to”나 “the first step will be” 같은 표현으로 앞으로 밟을 단계를 설명하세요.
