  • what I did: shopping twice a week, few weeks, small chores
  • how I felt: satisfaction, closer to her, small effort mattered a lot

Band 8

I’d like to talk about an elderly neighbour of mine, Mrs. Aliyeva, who lives alone just a few doors down from my family. It also brought us closer as neighbours; we still chat regularly now, long after her wrist healed, and if anything, it taught me that helping someone needn’t be dramaticExpresión idiomática de cierre to make a real difference.

Qué hizo subir la banda

  • Los deslices de tiempo verbal y de concordancia de Band 6 (“she break her wrist”, “My mother notice”, “It also make us”) se corrigen todos en Band 7 y no reaparecen en Band 8.
  • Band 6 dice “a very big weight off her shoulders”; Band 7 deja la expresión idiomática limpia (“a genuine weight off her shoulders”); Band 8 la ajusta todavía más (“took a genuine weight off her shoulders”).
  • Band 6 casi no tiene conectores entre las ideas; Band 7 añade un contraste con “not because… but because”; Band 8 amplía el mismo contraste con una formulación más precisa: “not because the task itself was demanding, but because I could see it genuinely mattered”.

  1. Should schools teach children to help others as part of the curriculum?¿Deberían las escuelas enseñar a los niños a ayudar a los demás como parte del currículo escolar?
  2. Do people help strangers as often as they used to?¿La gente ayuda a los desconocidos tan a menudo como antes?
  3. Is it better to help someone directly or to support a charity that helps many people?¿Es mejor ayudar a alguien directamente o apoyar a una organización benéfica que ayuda a muchas personas?
  4. Do you think helping others benefits the helper as well as the person being helped?¿Crees que ayudar a los demás beneficia a quien ayuda tanto como a la persona que recibe la ayuda?

Preguntas frecuentes

Da una referencia de tiempo aproximada, como “a couple of years ago” o “when I was in my final year of school”, y concentra tus detalles en la situación y en tus acciones.
