Band 7

Band 8
I’d like to talk about a wristwatch my grandfather gave me — actually his own watch, which he’d wornAposición y Past Perfect usados con naturalidad for most of his adult life. He presented it to me on my eighteenth birthday, a significant occasion, but what made it stand out was that he didn’t simply hand it over; he sat me down beforehand and explained where he’d bought it, decades earlier, along with several stories I’d never heard, despite knowing him my entire life. Looking back, what struck me most wasMarcador discursivo natural que introduce una reflexión how deliberate the gesture was — he’d thought carefully about the timing and the explanation, rather than it being some last-minute, generic presentFormulación precisa y natural, and that thoughtfulness is what has stayed with me.
Qué hizo subir la banda
- Los deslices de tiempo verbal de Band 6 (“my grandfather give to me”, “he wear”) pasan a ser correctos en Band 7, con pasado y Past Perfect (“he’d worn”), y Band 8 añade una aposición para pulir más el resultado (“actually his own watch, which he’d worn”).
- Band 6 dice “very expensive” y “the sentimental value is more important”; Band 7 lo ajusta con “outweighs”; Band 8 mejora la imagen del cierre con “entrusted with a small fragment of family history”.
- Do you think people put too much emphasis on expensive gifts?¿Crees que la gente da demasiada importancia a los regalos caros?
- How have gift-giving customs changed with online shopping?¿Cómo han cambiado las costumbres de hacer regalos con las compras en línea?
- Is it better to give a practical gift or a sentimental one?¿Es mejor regalar algo práctico o algo sentimental?
- Do you think handmade gifts mean more than bought ones?¿Crees que los regalos hechos a mano significan más que los comprados?
Preguntas frecuentes
