“what people were doing” অংশে সাবধান থাকুন: কার্ডটি চায় আপনার দেখা কাজ, যেমন দরদাম করা, লাইনে দাঁড়ানো, নাচা বা বের হওয়ার পথের দিকে ঠেলাঠেলি করা, “there were many people”-এর মতো সাধারণ কথা নয়।

যে পরীক্ষার্থী বলেন “I disliked it because I was worried about losing my sister, and the noise gave me a headache”, তিনি “it was not good” বলা পরীক্ষার্থীর চেয়ে অনেক বেশি বিশ্বাসযোগ্য শোনান।

The lanes were packed, so we could only shuffle along.
It is a bustling market, especially at weekends.
elbow your way through I had to elbow my way through just to reach the stairs.
A deafening roar went up when the music started.
I held her hand so that we would not get separated.
People stood shoulder to shoulder along the pavement.
The heat and the noise together were overwhelming.
a sea of people From the bridge, all I could see was a sea of people.
to get a headache from something I got a headache from the constant shouting.
full of life প্রাণবন্ত, উদ্যমে ভরা ও উপভোগ্য Some people love a market because it feels full of life.

Band 7

I’d like to talk about a really crowded place I went to last December, Balogun Market in Lagos. I went on a Saturday morning with my younger sister Chidinma, who needed an outfit for a family wedding. By the time we arrived, the lanes were so packed that we could only shuffle alongভিড়ের মধ্যে চলার জন্য স্বাভাবিক, নির্দিষ্ট ক্রিয়াপদগুচ্ছ with everyone else. Sellers were calling out to customers, shoppers were bargaining loudly, and every few minutes a motorbike squeezeটেন্সের ভুল: সঠিক হবে “squeezed” past between the stalls. We stopped twice to catch our breath in a doorway, and a man carrying a huge bundle of cloth on his head shouted at everybody to make way. I kept hold of my sister’s hand because I was afraid we’d get separated. Most people were there to buy or sell somethingনির্ভুল ও স্পষ্ট বাক্য, যা তৃতীয় পয়েন্টের উত্তর দেয়, though some were simply wandering around and taking it all in. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy it much. It was far too noisy, the air was stifling, and I had a headache within an hour. Still, my sister was delightedবৈপরীত্য বোঝানো শব্দ বর্ণনাকে সুসংগত রাখে because she found exactly the dress she wanted, and that made the trip worthwhile. Afterwards we had a cold drink in a small cafe outside the market, and the quiet there felt wonderful. I think I disliked it mainly because I prefer quiet places, although I can understand why so many people is attractedকর্তা ও ক্রিয়ার অমিল: সঠিক হবে “are attracted” to a market that’s so full of energy.

Band 8

I’d like to talk about a market I visited last December, Balogun Market in Lagos, which is easily the most crowded place I’ve ever been to. I went on a Saturday morning with my younger sister Chidinma, who needed an outfit for a family wedding. By the time we arrived, the lanes were so packed that all we could do was let the crowd carry us alongভিড়ের মধ্যে চলার জন্য বাগধারাসুলভ, জীবন্ত প্রকাশ. Sellers were calling out to passers-by, shoppers were haggling at the top of their voices, and every few minutes a motorbike squeezed through the gaps between the stalls. We had to stop twice to catch our breath in a doorway, and a man balancing a huge bundle of cloth on his head barked at everybody to make way. I kept hold of my sister’s hand for fear of getting separated. Although most people were simply there to buy or sell, others were wandering about and soaking it all inconcessive structure-এর নির্ভুল ও স্বাভাবিক ব্যবহার. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy it. The noise was relentless, the air was stifling, and within an hour I had a pounding headache. That saidভারসাম্যপূর্ণ মত তুলে ধরার discourse marker, my sister was delighted to find exactly the dress she’d been looking for, which made the trip worthwhile. Afterwards we had a cold drink at a small cafe outside the market, and the sudden quiet felt like a luxury. I think I disliked it because I crave quietনির্ভুল, স্বাভাবিক ক্রিয়াপদ বাছাই, but I can see why so many people are drawn to a place that is so full of energy.

  • ব্যান্ড 6-এর টেন্সের ভুলগুলো (“a very crowded place I go to last December”, “we can not walk fast”) ব্যান্ড 7-এ নির্ভুল (“a really crowded place I went to last December”) এবং ব্যান্ড 8-এ পরিষ্কারই থাকে।
  • ব্যান্ড 6 নির্ভর করে “some nice clothes” ও “good price”-এর ওপর; ব্যান্ড 7 ব্যবহার করে “shuffle along”; ব্যান্ড 8 যোগ করে “let the crowd carry us along” ও “I crave quiet”।
  • ব্যান্ড 6 শেষ হয় সাদামাটা “it is full of life” দিয়ে; ব্যান্ড 7 শেষ করে “a market that’s so full of energy” দিয়ে; ব্যান্ড 8 একই ভাব প্রকাশ করে “drawn to a place that is so full of energy” দিয়ে, তার আগে ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ “That said” রেখে।

  1. Why do so many people enjoy being in a crowd, for example at a festival or a match?
  2. Is noise in big cities a serious problem for the people who live there?
  3. What can a city do to reduce noise in its busiest areas?
  4. Do you think people cope with crowded places better when they are young?
  5. How should the authorities keep large crowds safe at public events?
