Band 7

I’d like to talk about a shopping mall outside Izmir, in Turkey, because it’s honestly the most boring place I’ve ever been to. I went there last winter with my cousin Selin, who needed a new coat. The mall is large and quite new, but it’s far from the city centre, so we had to take two buses just to get there. Inside, it was exactly the same as every other mall자연스럽고 분명하며 정확한 비교: the same shops, the same music and no windows at all. The music was loud, yet nobody seemed to be enjoying it; people just wandered slowly from one window to the next. Selin tried on coat after coat while I sat on a bench scrolling through my phone. I told her I’d like to leave, but she wanted to compare a few more shops, so I waited again. Then we had a burger in the food court and walked from shop to shop for nearly three hours. What made it so dull, I think, is that there’s nothing to do there unless you’re prepared to buy something조건을 나타내는 절을 정확하게 사용, and if you aren’t, you simply kill time관용적인 콜로케이션. Without any windows, I couldn’t tell what time was it어순 오류: 올바른 형태는 “what time it was”, and the afternoon seemed to drag on. I much prefer places with some life, like the old bazaar in the city centre, where there are small shops, people bargaining and the smell of coffee. In the end, Selin was delighted with her coat, but I came home exhausted, and that’s really why I remember it답변을 매듭짓는 분명한 연결 표현.

Band 8

I’d like to talk about a shopping mall on the edge of Izmir, in Turkey, which is quite possibly the dullest place I’ve ever been to. I went there last winter with my cousin Selin, who needed a new coat. The mall is large and fairly new, but it’s so far from the city centre that we had to take two buses just to get there. Inside, it was indistinguishable from any other mall정확하고 자연스러운 표현: the same chain shops, the same music and not a single window. The music was loud, yet nobody seemed to be enjoying it; shoppers simply wandered from one display to the next. Selin tried on coat after coat while I sat on a bench scrolling through my phone. When I suggested leaving, she wanted to compare a few more shops, so I resigned myself to another hour, and after a burger in the food court we drifted from shop to shop for nearly three hours. What made it so tedious, I think, is that there is simply nothing to do there unless you intend to shop자연스러운 조건이 들어간 복합절, so anyone who has no wish to buy anything ends up killing time. With no windows, I lost all sense of whether it was morning or evening, and the afternoon seemed to stretch on indefinitely관용적이고 생생한 표현. I much prefer somewhere with a bit of life, like the old bazaar in the city centre, with its small shops, its bargaining and the smell of coffee. Selin went home delighted with her coat, while I came home drained, and what stayed with me was how soulless성찰적인 마무리 요점을 이끄는 담화 표지 a place can feel when it has been designed for only one purpose.

  • 6점 답변의 동사 실수(“I go there”, “we must take”, “I just sit”)는 7점 답변에서 정확해지고(“I went there”, “we had to take”, “I sat”) 8점 답변에서도 정확하게 유지됩니다.
  • 6점 답변은 “buy things”와 “very very long”에 의존하고, 7점 답변은 “kill time”을 쓰며, 8점 답변은 쇼핑몰을 “indistinguishable from any other mall”이라고 묘사하고 오후가 “stretch on indefinitely”할 것처럼 느껴졌다고 묘사합니다.
  • 6점 답변은 이유를 평범한 나열로 제시하고(“nothing to do there except buy things”), 7점 답변은 “unless you’re prepared to buy something”이라는 조건을 더하며, 8점 답변은 장소가 얼마나 “soulless”한 느낌을 줄 수 있는지에 대한 성찰로 마무리합니다.

  1. Why do some places feel lively while others feel dull?
  2. Do you think towns and cities should build more places for young people to spend their free time?
  3. Is being bored always a bad thing, or can it be useful?
  4. How have large shopping centres changed the way people spend their weekends?
  5. Do people get bored more easily today than they did in the past?
