このキューカードへの取り組み方

このキューカード（cue card）が求めているのは、田舎の暮らしについての一般的な意見ではなく、特定の旅行です。はっきり覚えている1回の訪問を選びましょう。親戚の農場での週末、田舎の散歩、キャンプ旅行などです。そして、田舎がどんなところかを一般的に述べるのではなく、その訪問中に実際に起きたことを軸に答えを組み立てます。

3つの項目はどれも事実を問うもの（どこ、誰、何）なので、順に手際よく具体的に話していくのが明確な構成です。じっくりした振り返りの表現は、最後の「how you felt」の行に取っておきましょう。このカードでは、自然で個人的な表現がいちばん強く表れやすいのが、そこです。

五感の細部は、ここでは特に効果的です。静けさ、空気、1日の流れなどです。このカードは、場の雰囲気が「and explain」の行に直接関わる数少ないものなので、「it was peaceful」だけに頼らず、五感の具体的な細部を少なくとも1つ用意しておきましょう。

I’d like to talk about a weekend I spent at my uncle’s small farm, about two hours outside the city, which I visited with my parents and younger cousin during a school holiday a few years ago. We don’t visit that often, maybe once a year at most, so it always feels like a fairly significant change of scenery whenever we go. Over the two days we were there, we helped my uncle with a few small jobs around the farm, feeding the animals in the morning and helping repair a section of fence that had come loose, and in the afternoons we mostly just walked around the surrounding fields and sat outside talking, which sounds uneventful but was actually one of the more relaxing parts of the whole trip. It also gave me a much clearer sense of how differently my uncle experiences each day compared to us, since his whole routine is shaped by the animals and the weather rather than a fixed schedule. By the time we left, I remember genuinely not wanting to go back, which surprised me a little given how little we’d actually planned to do while we were there.

• 「a natural place you have visited」のカードと混同すること。そのカードは、人が暮らす田舎の環境を必要としません。
