  • what: football derby, local teams, Samarkand
  • where, when, who: city stadium, last April, cousin Jasur
  • why live: wanted the noise, tickets arrived as a surprise
  • why different: crowd, smell, shared feeling, TV misses it

Band 6

I would like to describe a football match I watchError de tiempo verbal: debería ser “watched” last April in the city stadium in Samarkand. It was a derby between two local teams, and I went with my cousin Jasur, who is a very big fan. Before that day I only seeError de tiempo verbal: debería ser “saw” matches on television, so I was, er, a bit nervous about how it would be. The stadium was full and the people were singing the whole time, and when the home team scored in the second half everybody jumpError de tiempo verbal: debería ser “jumped” up and shouted. I could not hear my cousin even when he was standError de forma: debería ser “standing” next to me. The other team scored late and the final result was a draw, but nobody was really sad because the match was so exciting. Watching it live was different from television because on television you only see the ballOración débil: comparación incompleta; debería decir qué extrañas, but in the stadium you feel the big noiseVocabulario básico; limita el Lexical Resource and the feeling of the crowd. I think I will go again next season, maybe with more of my friends because it was a very good day.

Band 7

I’d like to describe a football match I watched last April at the city stadium in Samarkand. It was a derby between two local teams, and I went with my cousin Jasur, who’s a devoted supporter. Until then I’d only ever followed matches on television, so I was a little nervous about how different it would feelPregunta subordinada usada correctamente. The stadium was packed, and the fans sang almost without stopping; when the home side scored in the second half, the whole stand eruptedVerbo vívido y preciso and I couldn’t even hear Jasur standing beside me. The visitors equalised late on, so it ended in a draw, but nobody seemed disappointed because it had been such a lively game from start to finishConector de causa claro que mantiene coherente el relato. What made it different from watching at home was that a screen only shows you the ball, whereas in the stadium you pick up the mood of the entire crowd: the noise, the chanting, even the smell of food outside. I think I’d go again next season, maybe with more of my friendFalta el plural: debería ser “friends”, because the experience was genuinely memorable.

Band 8

I’d like to describe a football match I watched last April at the city stadium in Samarkand, a derby between two local sides that my cousin Jasur, a lifelong supporter, had been talking about for weeks. Until then I’d only ever followed matches on television, so I wasn’t sure how different it would feel. The stadium was packed, and the fans sang almost without pause; when the home side scored in the second half, the whole stand eruptedVerbo vívido y preciso and I couldn’t hear Jasur even though he was standing right beside me. The visitors equalised late on, so it finished level, yet nobody seemed disappointed, since it had been such a lively game from start to finish. What set it apart from watching at home was that a screen shows you only the ball, whereas in the stadium you absorb the mood of the entire crowdOración contrastiva con “whereas” que lleva la comparación: the noise, the chanting, even the smell of food drifting in from outside. I’d happily go again next season, perhaps with a few more friends, because the whole experience felt shared in a way that a living-room broadcast never quite manages.

Qué hizo subir la banda

  • Los deslices de tiempo verbal de Band 6 (“I watch”, “I only see”, “everybody jump”) son correctos en Band 7 (“I watched”, “I’d only ever followed”) y se mantienen limpios en Band 8.
  • Band 6 se apoya en “big noise” y “very good day”; Band 7 usa “the whole stand erupted”; Band 8 añade un contraste final sobre “a living-room broadcast”.

¿Y si nunca he ido a un estadio?
